Bismillah,
I was brought up on the saying: “the hand that gives is better than the hand that takes” which has led me to seek out ways to be the giver. Sometimes, one is not in the position to give financially, in which case, I believe that it is vital that we seek ways to still give to people and to society at large, and to give in creative ways. This is a value that I have tried to instil in the girls through the ayaat that we have come across in Juzz `Amma. So it’s time to practice what I preach.
I have signed up to do the NZF Winter Walk 2015 Challenge.
Here is an introduction to the National Zakat Foundation from their website:
The National Zakat Foundation is a ground-breaking initiative which aims to utilise Zakat funds and voluntary donations collected in the United Kingdom for the benefit of local, deserving recipients.
This group includes some of the most vulnerable members of our community, including widows, orphans, refugees, the aged as well as the homeless.
I am a strong supporter of giving locally and so NZF would be my charity of choice. I am also a volunteer blogger for NZF (Blog) and now that I’ve worked in their office, I can fully appreciate the need for such an initiative.
If you have benefited from this blog in any way, please consider sponsoring me for the walk. Head over to my fundraising page at: http://www.nzf.org.uk/Champion/GetProfile/3c7c03d9-8774-4603-a77d-4a2cc8568afc
Jazakallah kheir! 🙂
