Bismillah,

back-to-school-clip-art-11

It’s that time of year again where I’ve started planning for the coming term over again. The Arabic workbooks I’ve designed have been edited and there is a curriculum that is coming together now alhamdolillah.

In prep for the 1st lesson back, I’ve created this Back to Madrasah Arabic Grammar revision sheet to help them review what was taught last year.

Ramadan Arabic worksheet

Bismillah,

Ramadan Mubarak to all Arabic Adventures fans! 🙂

r

Last week’s lesson for the older girls focused on reading on Ramadan in Arabic and reviewing Arabic grammar concepts using the text. It was a lovely exercise to go through because the girls recognized a lot of the words. An example of how you can use the text is below:

  •  Highlight the words you recognize from previous knowledge. (Help students at this stage by reminding them of similar words they may know).
  • Ask students to circle any detached/attached pronouns. The ones which are not on the text, write them down at the back of the page.
  • The same task as above but with demonstratives, prepositions, sound plurals and verbs.
  • Give students the new vocab that are in the text and they don’t know from before.

Please note this text was taken from the Mawdoo3 website. It’s an Arabic wikipedia of sorts. The original article can be found HERE.

Arabic grammar review board game

Bismillah,

Here is a board game I’ll be using in my class as a quick and fun way to review what has been taught previously. We are on half-term holidays for a week so the girls will need some help reviewing the previous grammar concepts.

I will laminate this sheet and it will be a pair activity. You will also need dice and counters for this game.

Arabic Grammar Lapbook – free pack

Bismillah,

We are currently on our spring break for two weeks. I’m using the extra time available to plan and create more resources for the coming term. We had a very fruitful Arabic staff meeting and Alhamdolillah as a result we feel like we know where we are heading as a team and a department.

The first lesson back after a long break is usually where we spend time reviewing the grammar concepts we have covered so far. The 3rd term is insha Allah where I am going to prepare the girls for their end of year exam. So reviewing is going to be a major theme for us this coming term iA.

Here is the free 10 page PDF of the Arabic Grammar Lapbook

So, this is what the girls from my 3 classes will be making for themselves. If hey ever leave Al Barakah school they have a hands on resource with all Arabic grammar in one place. I’ve left things blank for them to fill out in their own words and style.

You will need a document folder cut open or you can use any folder you have available. I am going to go for the cheapest option as I will be getting all 3 classes to be making one each.

Arabic grammar lesson starter

Bismillah,

Here is the lesson starter that I will be using for this upcoming lesson for all three of the classes. I’m going to cut the strips and put them in a bag. Not all the girls will get a strip so 6 of them will be chosen to come up and explain a grammar point each to the class. That way everyone has been given a task and has participated. The girls who come up to explain their given grammar point will be allowed to do a role play, ask questions to the class, sing the pronoun song and obviously use the board to write on.

Here is the pdf for the Arabic grammar starter question strips.

Edit: Someone requested the answers to the above questions so I’ve created a sheet that includes the answers. I hope they prove useful iA.

Revision activity: true/false activity

Bismillah,

I’ve just created this quick activity to review the detached pronouns, possessive pronouns and prepositions from the grammar points sheets I’ve covered in previous posts.

This true/false activity is a fun activity and I’ll be using it as an activity to be completed in pairs insha Allah.

Here is the pdf for the true/false Arabic grammar activity.

Demonstrative pronouns worksheet

Bismillah,

This Saturday, the year 10 class will be learning their attached pronouns and demonstrative pronouns. We will also be reviewing the detached pronouns. This is an activity sheet for them to complete.

It helps for them to see that they are using their knowledge of Arabic keywords to slowly translate English sentences. If they understand that they are capable of doing that – insha Allah unconsciously, they will look at new surahs and feel confident enough to translate from the Arabic text itself – by themselves.

So here is the free pdf for the demonstrative pronoun worksheet.

I hope you find this useful insha Allah!

Arabic grammar worksheet

Bismillah,

So far the grammar I have taught or reviewed depending on the class and what they have been taught before is as follow:

  • The definite article
  • Detached pronouns
  • Attached pronouns
  • Demonstratives

I created the following Arabic grammar worksheet as an exercise to help review all these concepts. The lyrics are from an Islamic Arabic nasheed for children and they repeat over and over again. I want them to see that Qur’anic Arabic and the grammar I am teaching can be used to read short Arabic stories or understand songs which is more relevant at their age/stage.

So here is the nasheed:

And here is the activity that accompanies it:

hiba2-page-001

Once the students have completed the exercise, it will be a fun activity to see if they can translate the sentences using previous knowledge and some help from me. Exposing them to Arabic texts at such an early stage is beneficial for them in my opinion.

At the end of this exercise, I’ll get the class to listen to the nasheed and repeat the words.

Bismillah,

I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to make these, and so now that Year 10 have caught up with some grammar they should have been taught a few years back – I can do a hand on activity with them.

I’m not going to give my students this pdf just yet, instead I’ll let them design their own and use my one as one to get the content from.

Hope you enjoy making this with your class or children!
