Arabic Verbs matching game

Bismillah,

Here is an activity I created and used with my 3 classes. It was a good way of helping the girls review the verb list I handed out to them. Check this post out to get your hands on the pdf of a list of verbs oft-used in the Qur’an.

Here is a picture of one of the works by a team who managed to put it all together and presented the game in their own creative way 🙂

Preparation:

I printed the sheets out in colour and laminated each sheet. I then cut out each image (apples) leaving a thin white border around it. Then, I cut each apples in half. I stored each set of verbs in mini ziploc bags.

How I used this resource:

I then asked the girls to place a tick around the verbs they were already familiar with on the page (cover the English to see which ones they could translate without looking).  I then handed out the resources which was played in pairs. Mashallah, the girls got on very well.

Benefits of pair-work:

Students love working together and helping each other. Pair up students who are different abilities to allow them to teach each other and learn not only the material but soft skills too e.g. patience, politeness. The benefits will show up as better class cohesion and healthy competition.

Ramadan Arabic worksheet

Bismillah,

Ramadan Mubarak to all Arabic Adventures fans! 🙂

r

Last week’s lesson for the older girls focused on reading on Ramadan in Arabic and reviewing Arabic grammar concepts using the text. It was a lovely exercise to go through because the girls recognized a lot of the words. An example of how you can use the text is below:

  •  Highlight the words you recognize from previous knowledge. (Help students at this stage by reminding them of similar words they may know).
  • Ask students to circle any detached/attached pronouns. The ones which are not on the text, write them down at the back of the page.
  • The same task as above but with demonstratives, prepositions, sound plurals and verbs.
  • Give students the new vocab that are in the text and they don’t know from before.

Please note this text was taken from the Mawdoo3 website. It’s an Arabic wikipedia of sorts. The original article can be found HERE.

Arabic grammar review board game

Bismillah,

Here is a board game I’ll be using in my class as a quick and fun way to review what has been taught previously. We are on half-term holidays for a week so the girls will need some help reviewing the previous grammar concepts.

Download the pdf for the Arabic grammar board game HERE

I will laminate this sheet and it will be a pair activity. You will also need dice and counters for this game.

Arabic Past and Present Tense Fill in the Blank worksheet

Bismillah,

Here is an activity that I was meaning to create for a while now to use in my teaching. A nice way to show and review the prefixes and suffixes attached to the core verb root to conjugate it for different subject pronouns.

I’m going to print this document double sided so I end up with only one sheet for each student. Then I’ll laminate the sheet so the students can fill in the blank using a dry erase whiteboard marker.

Here is the pdf of Arabic tenses Fill in the Blank activity sheet.

Arabic Present Tense jigsaw set

Bismillah,

Here is a jigsaw type activity that I have put together to help the girls review Arabic present tense conjugation parts.  To help them see the different parts that make up present tense for each subject pronoun.

Laminate the sheets and store in a sealed bag and re-use as needed. I’m going to make this a pair activity so I will only need half the number I would’ve needed.

Arabic Verbs conjugating game

Bismillah,

Here is a neat activity to use as a starter or to finish off the lesson. It’s a game to be played in pairs. I am going to laminate it so the ones they have completed can be crosses off using a dry erase board marker and the sheet will still be usable with other classes.

Arabic verbs Tic-Tac-Toe

Bismillah,

Here is a quick activity intended as a starter activity to help my students learn to translate the verbs they have been learning in these past few lessons. The game uses ayaat from the Qur’an which fits in well with their syllabus.

The game is easy – Tic Tac Toe but with a Qur’anic Arabic twist.

Inshallah I’m going to laminate the sheet so that the students can put crosses on the sheet using dry erase board markers. That way this resource can be re-used for many years to come iA.

So here is the pdf for the Arabic Verbs Tic Tac Toe activity.

End of term handouts

Bismillah,

SubhanAllah, another term at Al Barakah is coming to an end and unlike the first term, this one has flown by. But time usually goes fast when you’re having so much fun.

To remind the girls to review their Arabic grammar over the holidays, I went out and bought a few goodies for the girls to celebrate how well they have done this term masha Allah! For example, my year 10s were able to translate the first few sentences of the story of Habil and Qabil in Arabic using previous knowledge of vocabulary and Arabic grammar they have learnt so far. That is a huge achievement and I was blown away in class with how well they translated the text!

So here is a peak at the goodies 🙂

The above is for my little year 8s. I’ve just added a little tag to each present – lolly pop dips. If you want to print this class for your class, here is the PDF Dip tag.

Here are the presents for my year 10s and 9s. Crisps with their own tag. If you want to print your own tag, here is the PDF Chip tag.

Arabic past tense worksheet

Bismillah,

A cut out and paste activity I will be using as an activity for my next lesson. It’s very easy to do and insha Allah will help to review the Arabic past tense. Some girls are kinathestic learners so it will be especially good for them. The red and black is good for visual learners and I will get the girls who are auditory learners to say the verbs out as they cut and paste them.
